Before the big reunion, there\u2019s some salon etiquette to consider as we adjust to the \u2018new normal\u2019. Hand-washing, mask-wearing, resisting the urge to hug your hairstylist \u2013 a bit of guidance will help to make sure everyone inside \u2013 and outside \u2013 the salon stay healthy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Not feeling well?<\/h2>\n

Skip the salon visit and reschedule your appointment. We\u2019ve asked our salon partners to share that message with their team too.<\/p>\n

If you’ve got a mask, wear it.<\/h2>\n

This can help to stop the spread of germs. Think of how much you’ll save on lip liner.<\/p>\n

Avoid hugging or shaking hands<\/h2>\n

inside the salon. The reunion with your therapist will still be glorious without high-fiving your hairdresser.<\/p>\n

Leave the salon door open.<\/h2>\n

(if your salon says so). Less handle-opening means less surface-touching, so if the door’s open when you arrive at the salon, leave it that way.<\/p>\n

Bring a drink with you.<\/h2>\n

Having a bottle in your bag (or a flat white from that place next door) reduces the risk of contamination from cups at the salon.<\/p>\n

Pay for your treatment in advance, <\/h2>\n

so that you (and your stylist) won’t have to handle cash at the salon. Otherwise, paying on a card is a good idea too.<\/p>\n

Wash and sanitise your hands often.<\/h2>\n

A proud moment during lockdown was launching a Facebook community to connect hair and beauty professionals, along with petitioning for financial support for salons from the government.<\/p>\n
