Here\u2019s what we found out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Clients are <em>definitely<\/em> excited<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.treatwell.ie/partners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/06\/Blue_Steel_NLD_386082_7_1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1129\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.treatwell.ie/partners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2020\/06\/Blue_Steel_NLD_386082_7_1-1.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.treatwell.ie/partners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2020\/06\/Blue_Steel_NLD_386082_7_1-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.treatwell.ie/partners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2020\/06\/Blue_Steel_NLD_386082_7_1-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.treatwell.ie/partners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2020\/06\/Blue_Steel_NLD_386082_7_1-1-720x480.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>One things\u2019 for certain &#8211; client demand isn\u2019t going anywhere. Our customers said that visiting a barber shop or salon was in their top three priorities, as soon as they were able to post-lockdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That goes double for barbers, in fact. In all the countries which have come out of lockdown so far, mens haircuts were the <em>most<\/em> booked treatment on the whole of Treatwell.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, it\u2019s extra important to make sure you\u2019re set up properly for re-opening, to make the most of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be sure to get back in the shop a few days early to make sure everything is ready to go. We\u2019d recommend spending time on at least one \u2018test\u2019 day, where you or your team take a dry run of what your new normal will look like. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pro tip:<\/strong> Get someone to role-play a client visiting the shop, to make sure you pick up on anything that might be a problem &#8211; it&#8217;ll be worth it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Hygiene matters more than ever<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.treatwell.ie/partners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/06\/shutterstock_532641028-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1118\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.treatwell.ie/partners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2020\/06\/shutterstock_532641028-1.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.treatwell.ie/partners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2020\/06\/shutterstock_532641028-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.treatwell.ie/partners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2020\/06\/shutterstock_532641028-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.treatwell.ie/partners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2020\/06\/shutterstock_532641028-1-720x480.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>While clients are eager to get back in the chair, that doesn\u2019t mean behaviour isn\u2019t changing. Understandably, hygiene was given as a top concern by all our customers &#8211; at the end of the day, they just don\u2019t want to book in somewhere they don\u2019t feel safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They\u2019re on the lookout for clearly elevated hygiene practices, ways to avoid crossing paths with too many other people and minimising direct contact. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government has released a new, full list of guidelines and rules to help you manage any risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For barbers, the key takeaways are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Pre-booked appointments only: No more lining up clients to wait on the bench.<\/li><li>Wear protective gear: Gloves, mask and visor are all recommended.<\/li><li>Keep it short: Minimise the amount of time each client will take.<\/li><li>Keep track: Keep a temporary record of your clients to aid with Track &amp; Trace. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can read the <a class=\"ek-link ek-link\" href=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/media\/5ef2889986650c12970e9b57\/Keeping-workers-and-clients-safe-during-covid-19-close-contact-services-230620.pdf\">full guidelines here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With all that in place, you may need to find a new way to handle client demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a Treatwell partner, clients can book in a slot with you in advance through your website, a listing or your social media. That means there\u2019s a real chance for businesses &#8211; especially barbers &#8211; to get found by a new wave of clients on top of their regulars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consider upgrading your window display &#8211; just because the walk-ins are largely out doesn\u2019t mean that walk-bys are. Even if they&#8217;re not popping in, you can still get plenty of fresh eyes on your shop if you make it look appealing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Show off imagery of your best work, shout about your improved hygiene measures to put possible clients at ease and let them know how they can book in their slot ahead of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Getting an online presence is also key. Across the whole of Europe we\u2019ve seen a trend of traditional busy periods for barber shops and salons disappearing fast &#8211; most likely again because clients have more flexible schedules than they might have done before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That might mean a re-think of your normally reliable hours. To begin with, we\u2019d recommend extending them as far as you think is possible, especially to capture that first rush of demand. As time goes on and you learn more about the new normal, you can work out what works best for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plus, since you\u2019ll likely have to build in extra time throughout the day to make sure you\u2019re cleaning and disinfecting regularly, this is a good way to make sure you\u2019re not missing out on customers in the long run.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s finally here &#8211; barber shops and salons are set to open once again from 4th July after a months-long lockdown.
