Beauty booking behaviour is changing quicker than ever as consumers embrace an ever more digital world. But what does that actually look like?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We took a deep dive into our huge data pool here at Treatwell to find out what we could learn from the last 12 months about how (and what) consumers around the UK are booking when it comes to their hair and beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1.&nbsp; More people got a wax in London last year than everyone who lives in Newcastle<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Less hair. More bookings. Continuing the upwards trend for hair removal we\u2019ve seen across the industry, beauty bookers down south got stuck into&nbsp;<strong>469,475<\/strong>&nbsp;waxes last year \u2013 more than the whole population of Newcastle (coming in just short at&nbsp;<strong>447,446<\/strong>). Lashes are getting more extreme<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 60s are swinging back around in 2020 with bold lashes leading the way. Bookings of lash extensions, as a category, were up by +<strong>36%<\/strong>&nbsp;in 2019, but with Russian Lashes (the technique that adds up to 8 artificial lashes per natural lash) increasing in bookings by a whopping +<strong>794%<\/strong>, we think this is the one to keep an eye on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.treatwell.ie/partners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/05\/Beauty_By_Iresh_NLD_328560_6_5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-702\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.treatwell.ie/partners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2020\/05\/Beauty_By_Iresh_NLD_328560_6_5.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.treatwell.ie/partners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2020\/05\/Beauty_By_Iresh_NLD_328560_6_5-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.treatwell.ie/partners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2020\/05\/Beauty_By_Iresh_NLD_328560_6_5-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.treatwell.ie/partners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2020\/05\/Beauty_By_Iresh_NLD_328560_6_5-720x480.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Friday really&nbsp;<em>is<\/em>&nbsp;the new Friday (at least for beauty)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not going \u201cout out\u201d this Friday? Neither are (roughly)<strong>&nbsp;88,000&nbsp;<\/strong>other people. Throughout the whole year, Friday evening proved the most popular times-slot of the week for consumers booking their treatments. Monday was the least popular, with an average of just&nbsp;<strong>55,000<\/strong>. More men got an intimate wax than are named Gary<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Male hair removal treatments continue their quiet \u2013 but meteoric \u2013 rise. In 2019,&nbsp;<strong>13,625&nbsp;<\/strong>people booked in for an intimate wax. That\u2019s more than everyone called Gary. (And Ian, Donna and Karen, too). Dermaplaning looks set for smooth sailing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The half-shaving\/half-skin exfoliation facial treatment is gaining in popularity fast, jumping up +<strong>621%&nbsp;<\/strong>last year from 2018.
