When Selena Gomez, Billie Eilish, and Dylan Sprouse hop on a hair trend, you know it has to be cool. Recently, a bunch of our fave celebs have been ditching their signature colours for this season\u2019s hottest new colour on the block: vanilla blonde. And honestly, although we\u2019ll sorely miss Billie\u2019s iconic green and black \u2018do and Selena\u2019s glossy brunette locks, we\u2019re not mad about it. Why? Because this shade is\u00a0kind of<\/i>\u00a0to die for.<\/p>\n

The world of blonde hair might have been dominated by icy cool shades and white-silver tones over the past few years, but we\u2019re so ready for the light, warm update that this summer promises to bring. Vanilla blonde goes perfectly with warmer, sunny weather \u2013 and if that doesn\u2019t arrive (and let\u2019s be honest, that\u2019s a very real possibility at this rate), then\u00a0opting for this oh-so-summery shade<\/a>\u00a0is the perfect way to pretend.<\/p>\n

Vanilla blonde is a soft, warm, yet still sparklingly bright blonde – perfect for sunny summer days (or lack thereof). The colour balances cool and warm tones perfectly- it has all the intense brightness of platinum, but with the warm summery goodness of more honey-toned shades. Overall, the colour is super creamy and luxe, and gives us major 90’s supermodel vibes. Vanilla blonde can vary in warmth – so looks great both on natural blondes looking to refresh their colour, but also with brunettes wanting to take the leap to blonde for summer.<\/p>\n","video_content":"","block_picture":8085},{"block_title":"Will it suit me?","block_content":"

Vanilla blonde shades are best for skin with a slightly warmer undertone – but that’s definitely not to say it won’t suit you if you’re more on the cool side. You can ask your hairstylist to personalise the shade to suit you best, and even tailor the style to soften any potential colour clash. The ‘shadow-roots’ or ‘grown-out-roots’ trend is perfect for this, for example. Ask your stylist to blend the blonde with your natural hair colour, creating an intentionally rooty look. This will make for a more gradual transition, and the stark blonde root won’t wash you out. Bonus? Blonde hair famously needs a decent amount of care and maintenance to keep it fresh and healthy – we’ve had our fair share of straw-dry blonde moments to have learned this the hard way. To prevent hair drying out post-treatment, we’d recommend using a moisturising hair mask at least once a week (in addition to your regular shampoo and conditioner). You can also ask your hairdresser to use an Olaplex treatment along with your colouring – it’s a legit game-changer when it comes to blonde junkies. To maintain the perfect balance of cool and warm tones between colourings, you can head back to your stylist for a toner top-up, or ask them for recommendations for at-home products (as it will depend on the exact shade you opted for). <\/p>\n\n
