5 oils you should be using on your hair

4 March 2021 by Beth Ryan

Argan Oil

The gold standard when it comes to hair oil and likely the one you’ve heard lots about. Argan oil is rich in essential nutrients, vitamins and fatty acids all of which help lock in moisture and restore dry and damaged hair. It helps increase the hair’s natural elasticity making it feel soft and easy to manage as well as giving it a brilliant shine.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil isn’t just for the kitchen; it’s a natural moisturiser that can be used on both your hair and body. Rich in vitamin E and essential amino acids coconut oil is antibacterial which will keep your scalp healthy and dandruff free. Because of its high fat content, coconut oil is especially hydrating for coarse or thick hair but use sparingly – a little goes a long way!

Castor Oil

Damaged hair can sometimes look and feel thin so use castor oil to nourish the hair follicles and encourage healthy hair growth. Castor oil is very moisturising and a natural anti-inflammatory which is perfect if you’re looking to soothe an itchy scalp. It also works wonders in restoring hair to its natural shine, making it look glossy and full of life.

Almond Oil

Packed full of vitamin E, fatty acids, protein and magnesium almond oil helps create strong and nourished hair. Not only that but it’s a top hydrator meaning it leaves your hair soft, smooth and easy to manage. It’s a great all-rounder that works well on all hair types, including thin or fine hair which it hydrates without weighing down.

Tea Tree Oil

If you suffer from a dry scalp or find your hair becomes greasy quickly then tea tree oil could be the thing you need. It’s antimicrobial properties help fight bacteria and balance the PH level of the scalp all of which improves blood flow, helps hair growth and absorbs any excess oil. For best results add a couple of drops of essential tea tree oil to your shampoo each time you wash your hair.
