Just putting it out there – brown hair has been seriously underrated in the past (whoever said ‘blondes have more fun’ has a *lot* to answer for). Thankfully, though, the brown-hair rep has been well and truly restored over the past few years. Yep, shades like ‘expensive brunette’ and ‘strawberry brunette’ have risen through the ranks of hair trends, showing up on the heads of all our fave celebs (Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, we’re looking at you).
We’re thrilled about this for a number of reasons – not least of which is the fact that brown hair is pretty much universally flattering. Plus, just like tonal blondes, there’s a tonne of options when it comes to going dark – way more than just an all over-shade (although if that’s your thing – we’re totally here for it too). For a super dimensional look, talk to your stylist about face-framing colour techniques, babylights, or try a balayage.
The options don’t stop at techniques – there’s a whole host of lush shades to choose from, too. From the oh-so-summer-y ‘bronde’, the light and earthy ‘mushroom brown’, and the indulgent caramel – all the way to the coppery tones of strawberry brunette and the rich, luxurious shades of chocolate brown.
