The fox-eye trend is the model-approved makeup look we can’t get enough of

18 May 2020 by Beth Ryan

Bambi eyes, cat eyes – and now, fox eyes – honestly, who knew the animal kingdom had such nice eye shapes? The fox-eye trend is all about using makeup to elongate and lift the eye shape, making it more – you guessed it- fox-like (think almond eyes x 10). Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner are the poster girls for this one. Here’s how to try it out.

By Beth Ludolf

  • 1 The brows

A straight brow that angles upwards, rather than a classic arch,  gives the illusion of a more lifted, fox-like eye.

    How to:

If your brows are naturally arched – and you’re feeling committed – remove some or all of the tail of your brow and pencil in a new straighter brow shape. It should angle upwards slightly towards the temples. If you don’t fancy removing half of your brow (fair enough), use a high coverage concealer to cover the ends, set it with powder then draw the new shape over the top.

  • 2 The liner

Fox-eye liner and classic winged liner follow similar principles, sure, but they’re definitely not the same. Same, same, but different.

    How to:

Instead of connecting the wing to the lash line at the inner corner (like a cat-eye), keep it to the outer half of the eye. Angle your wing to point slightly more upwards to lift the eye. Extend the eye shape further by adding a small arrow shape to the inner corner. Opting for brown liner or eyeshadow adds to the illusion (it’s much softer than black liner).

  • 3 The lashes

Whether you choose to wear false eyelashes, lash extensions or mascara, the placement can enhance your eye shape even further.

    How to:

Keeping the volume to the outer corner will help to elongate the eyes further. If you’re using mascara, concentrate the product in the outer third. For lashes, look for winged styles or cut a strip lash in half (discarding the inner half) and apply them only to the outer corner.
