This is what your appointment will look like when salons reopen

23 June 2020 by Beth Ryan

Increased hygiene measures

This one is pretty obvious. You’ll be expected to wash your hands upon arrival and before leaving your appointment. Salons will be allowing extra time during every appointment to thoroughly clean the area – chairs, basins, everything. If you feel unwell (or have been recently), you’ll need to stay at home and reschedule your appointment.

Arriving at your appointment

Hoping for a walk-in appointment? Think again. Booking is key to help the salons regulate their customers. When you get to your appointment, waiting areas will be closed (to limit the number of people in the salon), so arriving early is a no-go. You may even be asked to wait outside until your therapist calls you in while reception areas could also be fitted with screens.

What to bring with you

Some appointments can be long, especially if you’re heading for a colour correction service (box dye faux pas, we’re looking at you). To limit contact, salons won’t be offering refreshments or magazines, so bring your own drink and something to keep you occupied. Salon staff won’t be allowed to touch any clients’ personal belongings so leave coats, bags and jewellery at home wherever possible. Pay online so you don’t need to worry about carrying payment.

Fewer appointments

Social distancing is here to stay (for the long run) which means there will be a limited number of people allowed in the salon at once and, therefore, fewer appointments available – oh, and no walk-ins so make sure to book. Some salons will be extending their opening hours, so you may need to go outside the usual haircut times – 7 am beard trim, anyone?

Your stylist will be wearing PPE

Your stylist will be wearing full PPE – like, dentist-level PPE. We’re talking gloves, visors, aprons. This is key for keeping everyone safe. You may be asked to bring a mask too.

It’s nearly time for salons to reopen (finally). With Treatwell, you can book beauty online at all your favourite salons – simple, hassle-free, and you can do it on the go. Discover amazing salons in your area.
