Reviews aren’t just words on a screen; they’re a powerful tool that help salons stand out from the crowd. In an industry where choices are limitless, great reviews can be key when it comes to setting your salon apart from the competition. 

And of course – glowing reviews play a huge part in getting people to trust you with their treatments, making it much easier to get new clients through the door. Glowing reviews say: “Hey, you’re in good hands here.” And, because all reviews on Treatwell are verified – clients feel confident knowing that every single opinion there is from a real customer – and what’s more convincing than genuine feedback from satisfied customers? Top Rated isn’t just a name. As customers are increasingly looking for reliable signs of great service, the Top Rated badge acts as that all-important quality seal, and shows clients that your salon has a reputation for 5-star service. The badge stays on your profile until the next Top Rated awards come around – so clients know they’re getting a real-time indication of your amazing work. 

Because we only badge the best, reaching Top Rated status can give your salon an edge over the competition – attracting new clients and encouraging existing ones to return. Clients can spot the badge on your profile, and can also use the ‘Top Rated’ filter on our marketplace website and app to search specifically for those salons providing top-notch service.

Yep – that’s a *pretty* good reason to start aiming for the (5) stars, if you ask us.

How to come out on top

Have we piqued your interest? (We thought so). To become a Top Rated 2023 salon, you need to meet the following criteria:

  • Your salon needs to have received a minimum of 70 reviews between 1st January and 22nd October 2023 (inclusive).
  • At least 95% of these need to be a glowing 5-stars  🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We’ll send you regular updates about your progress in the race to become Top Rated, so you can find out whether you’re tipped for the top. We’ll announce the winners in the first week of November – watch this space to find out whether you’ve made it.

Top Rated tip #1: Offer discounts and promos

First things first: More bookings = more reviews. So, increasing bookings is a great way to help increase your chances of reaching Top Rated status. And a great way to do that is to offer discounts and promos. 

For Treatwell Connect users: 

Create a flash promo that is active for a certain number of days, or create offers based on timing – like off-peak and last-min discounts to tempt clients during quieter times. 

And for Treatwell Pro users: 

You can also customise these offers by specifying whether it’s just for new clients or whether customers need a code in order to redeem them, as well as making the most of bundles, vouchers, loyalty cards and more. 

All of this helps to bring in more bookings – boosting both your revenue and those all-important reviews.

Top Rated tip #2: Make the most of your Top Rated sharing assets

There’s room at the top for your salon, and we want to help you get there. So, we’ll be sending you some exclusive images and animations to share on your social media accounts, to help you remind clients to keep those glowing reviews coming. Keep an eye on your inbox – we’ll see you there! Make sure to download these helpful tools, and use them far and wide to spread the word about your salon’s bid to be badged as the best. Top Rated tip #3: Activate your salon’s “Book Now” button

Make it easy for clients to book you by enabling your salon’s commission-free widget (or “Book Now” button) across your social media accounts. Picture this: a potential client is searching for treatment inspo on Instagram or Facebook. They come across a picture of your work, and immediately want to visit your salon (of course they do!) They head to your profile to find out more, and see that they can instantly book you there. Ta-da! More bookings (and more reviews) without you lifting a finger. 

Top Rated tip #4: Make the most of marketing

Smart, targeted marketing campaigns can help to both boost bookings and remind your clients to leave you a glowing review. Here are just a few ideas to get you started:

For Treatwell Pro users: 

  • Big spenders: Send offers to customers with a higher spending potential.
  • New experiences: Introduce clients to indulgent or innovative treatments they’ve never tried before.
  • Win back: Contact clients who haven’t visited your salon in a while.
  • Birthday wishes: Celebrate your customers’ birthdays with offers and promos.
  • Boost loyalty: Reward clients who’ve visited your salon a certain number of times.
  • Warm welcome: Greet first-time clients with a special introductory message.

Top Rated tip #5: Collect customer details for direct bookings

When a client books through Treatwell, regardless of whether that’s via our marketplace or your widget – we’ll automatically send them an email, inviting them to leave a review. However, it’s also super simple for those clients who book with you directly to leave a review too. All you need to do is make sure that you ask for their details, including their email address, when you’re taking the booking – then input these details into your software. That way, they’ll also be invited to leave a review of their experience with you.

Treatwell Rewards – your helping hand in the race to reach Top Rated

You probably know about our customer loyalty programme, Treatwell Rewards. What you might not know, however, is that we don’t just reward clients for booking with you (although that’s pretty great too, if we say so ourselves). We also reward customers for leaving those crucial reviews. They’ll earn:

  • 10 points for reviewing a salon that has more than 50 reviews
  • 30 points for reviewing a salon that has fewer than 50 reviews
